Alberta Finance and Enterprise launches new unclaimed property service for Albertans
As a result of recent new legislation, a central registry service will soon enable Albertans who have lost track of personal or business property to locate it. In June 2008, Alberta passed the Unclaimed Personal Property and Vested Property Act and Regulation, coming into force on September 1, 2008. The Alberta Finance and Enterprise, Tax and Revenue Administration (TRA) registry will have a searchable directory and link to a claim process. The directory is currently in the developmental stage, but when it is complete, potential claimants will have easy access to a single site where they can check for unclaimed property.
