Alberta Superintendent of Pensions

Welcome to the website of the Office of the Alberta Superintendent of Pensions.  The Superintendent’s office primarily governs pension plans that are established and maintained by private sector employers (or groups of employers or unions).  This site is intended to provide information for pension plan administrators, members, and service providers.  Additionally, this site contains information that will assist financial institutions and clients who offer locked-in products.

February 27, 2008

New and Updated Policy Bulletins

  • Policy Bulletin #33 – Audited Financial Statements has been updated. A frequently asked questions section has been added to this bulletin based on common queries fielded by the Superintendent’s Office in respect of the completion of Audited Financial Statements.
  • A new document, Policy Bulletin #40 – Pension Jurisdiction, has been created in response to a topic that is commonly posed to the Superintendent’s office. This bulletin covers the application of the Employment Pension Plans Act and Regulation in respect of membership in a pension plan, as well as the applicable legislation applying upon the transfer of benefit entitlement from a pension plan to a locked-in account.
